I'd agree with the previous point about the content dictating your approach. With a sci-fi story like this, I'd say it's entirely appropriate to keep all the lines clean and concise. On the other hand, if it was say, a western book, I'd probably keep the lines on a building or fence a little rougher and not necessarily use a ruler. It's similar to the pen versus brush argument, with pens working better for mechanical or inorganic lines and brushes being best for organic and natural shapes. But the WIPs so far seem to be shaping up really good. You've obviously got a great sense for environments and your story-telling seems solid. Looking forward to seeing the finals.

Thanks Piotrov, you guys seem to be very knowledgeable and I now understand the point a little better. Content dictates approach. I really like that little rule.

( Referring to your ' Wings ' example )...Yeah, that's a little harsh...If I were you, I'd take another page, draw the panel frames and nar. boxes in first and then draw your finished image in under that for a new, updated and polished page. Your perspective is outstanding, which is one of the harder skills to aquire for this industry.
Try it and you will see a huge difference. Also, if you are going to self-publish, it doesn't matter but if you ever want to show samples for professional work, leave the lettering out. It can damage your work over the long haul.
Don't let that be your crutch for not getting the green light on a project you want.

Just a quick comment before I hop out (busy night)-
I like your sense of balance within the frames. Oftentimes you can see people who have no balance to their composition- just tons of negative space on one side of a panel that can really negatively impact an artist's feel.

I would love to do all of my own lettering so I'm just trying to get in as much practice as possible, but I can always do it on a piece of tracing paper and lay over the actual page. I'm going to do a few sample pages for you guys to take a look at. Give me a couple of days and I'll have them for ya, but hopefully I can count on your input once I set those up. Thanks a lot gents!
