a warm up sketch of my main character, Sam from B.A.D.A.S.S. I'll post a weekly progress of this as I attempt to take it from this sketch to full color. I'll be throwing in more demons and aliens later and then attempting to ink and color this in the inbetween time os throwing my book together.

Caption for this one: " I said you couldn't have my lunch money again! "
Great work. Solid feel to it. Very nice.
Who are your influences and what are your style interests for creating the look? It's intriguing...almost a full anime animation style rather than comic art.

Personally, when I looked at the piece I kind of thought it has a certain flare of Ryan Ottley's work on Invicible. I don't know.. Still, a very unique style.

Personally, when I looked at the piece I kind of thought it has a certain flare of Ryan Ottley's work on Invicible. I don't know.. Still, a very unique style. Well, it could be taken that way but I'd bet my money on a manga fusion influence bringing this to it's current state. Examples of the type: The ear is rounded and the hair is one solid mass and shaded, not like an American style, where the hair would have been in atleast deeper linework for the look of depth and flow to it. The clothing is also one shape and defined by solid, blocker shapes. Dead give away. The shape and look of the eyes, nose and mouth. These are stylized effects commonly seen in South American and Asian artistic methods that are used as a technique for making more expressive gestures within fewer lines, to keep from over detailing the face for risk of details being mistaken for age marks. This is just my perspective on it though. Not right or wrong, merely an observation. Very nice work.

thanks everyone! My influences are both from American comics and Japanese comics. Overtime I guess my infatuation with Naruto has crept into my art.
